Mush

Koli National Park, Finland

A photo of some mushrooms found amongst the thick moss of the forest.

As well as the multitude of berries, there are many different kinds of mushrooms everywhere too! Apparently, many Finns know which mushrooms are edible and which aren't so mushroom picking is very common. At Pekka's cottage we hunted for curly, orange Kontorelli mushrooms. (I hope I spelled that right!) These mushrooms are expensive to buy in the marketplace and even more expensive in the restaurant, so we were lucky to have them right in front of us for free!
