Koli National Park, Finland
I really enjoyed looking over lake Pielinen and hiking around the park. There was lots of fresh green forest, interesting rock formations, and interesting people. We met two German men who decided to wait (smoking cigarettes :)) until the fog cleared so that they could take photos of the incredible view. They have travelled to many different national parks all over the world! Later we met a mother and daughter who are first and second generation American but had rediscovered their Finnish heritage, learning the language and keeping in contact with extended family members in Finland. The daughter was so at home, walking on the moss in her bare feet and picking and eating blueberries along the way. I thought that was really nice.
