The sites I have listed below are very useful for choosing colours individually or by whole colour schemes. Each site presents the colours in a different way, so you might want to visit each one and use the one which you find best for you.

For beginner Web creators, don't worry about the RGB numbers when you are putting colour on your pages. Just the six digit hexadecimal codes are needed when you programme. Also, remember that "COLOR" is the proper way to spell colour in HTML. This is difficult to remember for many Canadians and most British people who use the "COLOUR" spelling in everyday life.
